This seems very bad since there appears to be no opt out, and uninstalling the new app breaks Windows Defender. Defender adds loop back local VPN on phones for smartscreen web filtering. MS could have have full remote access to any and all data on devices it installed on and all web traffic on phones etc as well. This seems to replace Windows Defender that is local Antivirus (AV) with the new cutdown Defender for Endpoint enterprise version. Now Defender being a good product and full featured Endpoint Detect and Respond (EDR) product this has full two way comma to the portal in the engine. This is include iOS etc according to the article. After testing it for over a year, Microsoft has finally jumped the gun and started installing the brand-new Defender app, whether you like it or not. This is a new app that is automatically getting installed on Windows 11 and 10 machines. Don’t get surprised if you see a new “Microsoft Defender” app in the Start menu. ![]()
